Visit to Nová Duchonka campsite & Lubina farmaPARK
We don't always have our path planned out. The only thing that was certain was that Travel portable coffee maker MOKA by COFFE2GO Come with us :) . Sometimes it's good to improvise, or to figure out the destination on the go. This morning, while packing, we still didn't know where we'd end up.
Even when we started the car, we still didn't know where we'd end up. But it occurred to me that I'd recently read positive reviews for the new Duchonka campsite, so we read a few reviews and the destination was clear.
We arrived at the campsite mid-week, so it was almost empty, we didn't know where to „pitch up“ 🙂
The campsite pleasantly surprised us with its cleanliness and price. We'd never been here before, so we can't compare before and after. At the entrance, we were processed at reception, paid a deposit which was returned to us upon departure. They have multiple designated areas, and we could stay anywhere, plus one area exclusively for caravans and motorhomes. And it was here that we decided to set up camp. We found a nice spot amongst the trees near the electricity, even though we didn't explicitly need it. There are indeed plenty of tall pine trees here, and it's not difficult to find your own little spot.
Looking at the entire site, it was clear to us that the owner takes care of the campsite; it was clean, mown, and the whole area exuded a pleasant atmosphere. The sanitary facilities, showers, and kitchenette were in very good condition and clean. However, it was the middle of the week and there were few people. As the weekend approached, the cleanliness of the toilets became worse. But it's probably also about the people.
The reception also included a nice bar and a pancake maker, whom we already knew from other places. He makes really good pancakes from a mobile stand, he is very pleasant to chat with, as is his wife, and what is great and important for us, you can pay by card, which isn't always the case with these stands. But we definitely recommend the pancakes to everyone. Down by the lake, you will find other refreshment stands and attractions that are like traps for your children. The refreshments weren't of great quality, they seemed overcooked to us, but it's one of the alternatives, and it's up to you what kind of catering you decide on. The lake had its own peculiar colour, and it's up to you whether you swim or not. We didn't check the water quality as we weren't planning to swim.
The campsite prides itself on adhering to rules, cleanliness, and peace and quiet. This was true when there were fewer people. At weekends, it's worse, especially regarding peace and quiet, but again, this is down to the people. However, with the arrival of night, it quietened down. And if someone isn't following the rules, you have the option to report it to reception or the police. We were unlucky for a few days, as a family set up camp near us and didn't give us a choice of musical taste; we had to listen to what they liked.
Fortunately, we also had another plan. We got a great tip about the animal farm FarmaPARK Lubina from owners of a motorhome rental company.
Lubina is a village situated in the Myjava region, a place we like. It is green and, unlike Bratislava, mountainous, full of Kopanice nooks and crannies.
A ZOO is the perfect plan for a family trip for the whole family. Besides the usual animals, you can find kangaroos, lots of birds, deer, etc. They have several petting enclosures, simply a paradise for children. You can feed the kangaroos and other animals right from your hand. The staff are really nice, and even after a whole day, they don't show any fatigue, whether from the heat or from persistent children 🙂 They have my greatest appreciation.
We returned to the campsite in the early evening. We ended the day as usual, with pancakes and a walk around the grounds, where there's truly something for everyone. We returned home over the weekend. We once again rate this trip positively. Above all, everything we do, we do for our daughter, who loves nature and animals.
